About SAAIC

The Southern Alberta AI Conference (SAAIC) brings together researchers, practitioners, students, educators, business professionals, public-sector teams, and community members to explore how artificial intelligence is reshaping work, technology, and society.

SAAIC is designed as an accessible virtual forum for practical, interdisciplinary conversation. The conference connects technical perspectives with business, policy, education, ethics, and community concerns so participants can better understand both the promise and the limits of AI systems.

SAAIC 2026

SAAIC 2026 takes place virtually on July 24, 2026 and features the theme Beyond the Prompt: Making Sense of AI Possibilities and the Future of Intelligent Systems.

This year’s theme looks beyond prompt-response tools toward intelligent systems that can plan, coordinate tools, support workflows, and interact with people and institutions in more complex ways. The conference will focus on where these systems are creating value, where uncertainty remains, and how organizations can make responsible choices as AI capabilities evolve.

Southern Alberta Focus

SAAIC reflects Southern Alberta’s growing interest in applied AI, business analytics, digital transformation, education, and responsible technology adoption. The event is open to participants beyond the region while keeping a local focus on building useful conversations, networks, and learning opportunities.

The University of Lethbridge and the Dhillon School of Business support SAAIC as sponsors, helping create space for academic, professional, and public discussion about AI.

What We Value

We aim to create an inclusive and welcoming conference environment where participants can share ideas, evaluate real-world value and risks, and discuss responsible design and governance of intelligent systems. The goal is not only to showcase AI work, but to help people ask better questions about how AI should be used.
